"Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about un-becoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place."

Paulo Coelho.
Breathwork

The practice of breathwork can be traced back thousands of years. It has origins in Eastern practices such as Hinduism, Taoism and Buddhism. It also has roots in South American, African and Australian practices.

Breathwork is an umbrella term for bringing focus to your breath. You breathe in rhythmic patterns for certain periods of time. Sometimes, breathwork is set to music. It can be a gentle inhale and exhale in and out through your nose. Or more active breathing in and out through your mouth. I can facilitate both types of breathing tailoring it to a person's specific needs.

For my group breathwork journeys and events I facilitate two types of breathwork. The first is conscious connected, which is a 2-part breath in and out through the mouth. The second is transformative, which is a 3-part circular breath.

There are a huge amount of scientific and emotional benefits to practising breathwork.

They include:

  • Regulating your nervous system

  • Reducing symptoms of anxiety, stress and overwhelm

  • Helping the body to balance its pH levels

Usui Reiki

It was founded in the early 1920s by Japanese Buddhist, Mikao Usui. Wanting to share this gift, Usui created a Reiki institute in 1922.

It can be used safely alongside other medical treatments as it is a complementary therapy. It can benefit pets. Or you can use it to clear the energy of your home.

Meditation

Meditation

Meditation is an ancient spiritual practice with roots in Hinduism and Buddhism. It teaches you to become an observer of your thoughts. It has grown in popularity in the West, especially since the pandemic in 2020. To meditate, you typically bring focus to your breath, a sound or a mantra. However, there are lots of different ways to meditate.

I incorporate meditation in my breathwork journeys, either one-to-one or in a group. They're longer guided meditations. They help you to shift limiting beliefs and reconnect with your authentic self.

There are a huge amount of scientific and emotional benefits to meditating.

These include:

  • Improving the grey matter in your brain

  • reducing symptoms of stress, overwhelm and anxiety

  • Improve memory

  • Regulates emotions

  • Improves sleep

  • Improves focus

  • More self-compassion

  • Reduce blood pressure

Inner Child Work

The psychologist Carl Jung created the concept of the inner child. Your inner child is your emotional self. The way you respond to things as an adult is reflected in the way you learned how to express yourself as a child. As an adult, when a stressful or traumatic situation arises, you may find yourself reacting to it in a similar way to how you would as a child. From childhood you may have certain beliefs about yourself that have manifested over time. These might include things like believing you're not worthy or enough. Inner child work aims to help heal the child within. This process promotes self-compassion, emotional growth, and overall well-being. Overtime, this will help you cultivate more self-love for yourself.

I focus on inner child work during my guided meditations. They help you to heal parts of yourself that have held on to since childhood.

There are many scientific and emotional benefits to inner child healing.

These include:

  • Increased self-awareness

  • Improved emotional regulation

  • Improved relationship with yourself and others

  • Improved ability to cope with chaotic or stressful situations

  • Improved self-esteem

  • Improved confidence

Holding Space & Integration

Holding space is about being fully present with someone without judgment. In my work, it's so important to give each client a space to be seen and heard. When you suffer from anxiety, you can spend a lot of time pleasing others. Your time with me is precious and sacred. You can share anything you like with me, knowing you'll be listened to.

Integration happens at the end of a breathwork journey or reiki treatment. It's important for a person to share their experience. You will also be given guidance to help you to continue to integrate at home.

Community

Being part of a community can be beneficial for your mental health and well-being. Often, people feel lonely and isolated when dealing with anxiety. Feeling misunderstood, not listened to and unsure of who you are can also lead to loneliness. That's why community is so important at KatieHart.JustBreathe. Everyone who joins a session becomes part of the community. Being part of a community reduces your anxiety and stress levels. It gives you a sense of purpose and increases your self-worth.
