About the event

The body as distinct from the soul, mind, or psyche. Late 19th century: from Greek sōma ‘body’.

It’s time to start giving back to yourself. Put work worries on pause, leave life stresses at the door, and gift yourself 2 hours of the ultimate self-care. Somatic Healing is all about you giving back to yourself, helping you to slow down, and quieten that busy mind that’s always thinking of others. Meet like-minded people and have an opportunity to share and be heard.

During this 2-hour workshop, you will be guided by Katie from KatieHart.JustBreathe, a certified trauma-informed breathwork and Reiki practitioner specialising in helping people with anxiety.

Every event looks at a new theme surrounding anxiety; these can be anything from people-pleasing, creating boundaries, self-empowerment, and dealing with change, etc. You’ll be guided on a transformational breathwork journey, receive calming Reiki to balance the mind and body, and have the opportunity to learn more about yourself through thought-provoking journal prompts. Receive empowering and emotive guided meditations and be fully supported on how to integrate after the workshop.

The best part about this event is that it can be conveniently done from the safety of your own home. You won’t have to leave the house and rush to the session, saving you time and avoiding the stress of being in a hurry. You will also have more time for quiet reflection after the session, as there is no immediate need to rush off to the next thing.

How to prepare the space To prepare for your session, set up your space beforehand with:

  • a journal & pen
  • yoga mat (it can be a bed but this can make you want to drift off)
  • eye mask
  • two pillows, or a bolster and a pillow
  • a blanket
  • speaker
  • water

Create a relaxing atmosphere with incense, essential oils, candles, or energy-clearing materials.

Ensure a distraction-free, safe space for the breathwork journey. Your camera will need to be on from the start. For the breathwork journey you will need to be seen on camera from the head to the waist.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive late to the journey you wont be admitted. This is to ensure a safe space that isn't being disrupted. If you think you are going to be late please email Katie as soon as possible so she can try and accommodate your needs.

Is there anything participants need to do to prepare?

There are a few things you can do to prepare before the event:

  1. Avoid eating a big or heavy meal two hours before
  2. Avoid caffeine the day of the event
  3. You may wish to bring a journal for after the event.
  4. Try to avoid rushing off after the event. You may need to take a little longer to integrate
  5. Wear comfortable clothing

Can anyone do breathwork?

Breathwork may not be for you if you have the following conditions:

  • Cardiovascular problems
  • High or abnormal blood pressure
  • History of aneurysms
  • Epilepsy or history of seizures
  • Anyone on heavy medication
  • Severe psychiatric symptoms
  • Psychosis or paranoia
  • Bipolar depression
  • Osteoporosis
  • Recent surgery
  • Glaucoma
  • Pregnancy
  • Any person with mental illness who isn’t in treatment or lacks adequate support
  • Anyone experiencing an emotional or spiritual crisis.

This list is not all inclusive. It is highly recommended that if you have a question about a condition you may have that is not listed, that you consult a physician before beginning breathwork.

Somatic Healing Sessions are not a replacement for medical treatment, medication or psychotherapy.
